The olives for Avramidis® Olive Oil 100years do not grow in huge olive tree plantations. The olive oil is primarily produced for Ikarians’ (inhabitants of Ikaria) own consumption, who evidently get older and are healthier, also because of consuming the rich olive oil. The oil, which we or our neighbours don’t need in our own kitchen, is made available in our online shop and just recently also in some delicatessen shops.
Olive oil from Koroneiki olives, apparently the highest quality olive oil in the world!
Our Avramidis Olive Oil is made exclusively from Koroneiki olives. Koroneiki olive oil is one of the best olive oils in the world, in terms of both taste and composition. The Koroneiki olive is characterized by a very high content of the valuable unsaturated fatty acid "Oleic Acid". This is one of the most important monounsaturated fatty acids, which, among other things, can lower blood pressure and cholesterol (LDL) levels. In addition, unsaturated fatty acids have an anti-inflammatory effect, are precursors of hormones and support cell division.
Olive oil from Koroneiki olives is also rich in polyphenols (antioxidants) and is therefore particularly healthy and can be preserved for a long time. The oil has an aromatic scent, and a fruity, slightly nutty aroma.
Avramidis Olive Oil 100 years is anything but a mass product
We offer you a pure natural product in a limited edition. We only produce a small amount of olive oil and only work with what nature and our small farms offer. Authenticity is very important to us. And for this reason, our customers know that they will have to wait until the new harvest is ready at the end of February, which also fuels anticipation, as we have learned.
Pure, clean nature, far from civilization
Nature is still completely unspoiled here. Ikaria is far from the mainland. Industry or factories do not exist here. As a result, the air in which our olive trees grow is wonderfully fresh and clean. The water that soaks the trees comes from a variety of clear springs located on the mountains all over the island.
Fair payment for wonderful work is important to us!
And last but not least, it is important to us that the people who put all their effort and love into the production of such a valuable product are paid fairly. Many olive farmers elsewhere receive starvation wages for very physically strenuous work, so that the prices for olive oil can be kept as low as possible and profits can be maximized.
But to us it’s important to pay people fairly. Because we strongly believe that the special love and care with which our olive oil is produced is also a result of fair payment, and is manifested in the wonderful quality of Avramidis Olive Oil 100 years.
